Classes are six weeks long (unless otherwise stated) and run for an hour each week at the same time and day of the week as each start date/time below.
Please bring the following items to your classes:
- indoor shoes
- lots of small, soft treats (1-2 cups for the puppy/pet manners classes)
- if your dog enjoys playing with toys, you can bring a couple toys to class
- leash and collar, harness, martingale or head collar. Please no choke chains, prong collars or E collars.
- small blanket or bed for your dog to relax and settle on
- small bowl and water for your dog to drink
Please keep your dog on a leash at all times while in the facility, outside in the parking lot and on the facility grounds.

Start your puppy off on the right paw! Our puppy kindergarten class will teach your puppy all the basic commands needed to grow into a well behaved member of your family. Your puppy will learn sit, down, stay, come, heel position, go to your bed and loose leash walking. We will also cover manners like 'leave it', waiting at doorways, four paws on the floor (not jumping up), accepting handling, and automatic attention on the owner. Body awareness exercises and fun tricks will be included. Class discussions will also cover topics such as housetraining, puppy nipping, appropriate play, crate training, etc.
The class includes handouts and video tutorials for the skills taught in the puppy obedience program. Students are encouraged to join the Hyper Hounds Puppy/Beginner private Facebook group for additional tips, videos and questions/answers from instructors.
Puppies must have had their first set of vaccinations and be between 10 weeks and six months of age to start this program.

Congratulations on bringing home your next performance superstar! Our performance puppy class will give your puppy the best foundation for a long career in dog sport.
The performance puppy class will include teaching basic obedience skills, toy play, recall games, drive building exercises, body awareness and impulse control exercises, tricks and more!
This class is recommended for students that have attended a puppy class in the past with a previous puppy and are looking for a class focused on teaching performance puppies.
Puppies must have had their first set of vaccinations and be between 10 weeks and six months of age to start this program.

The beginner obedience class will teach your dog all the basic commands needed to become a well behaved member of your family. Confidence building exercises will be taught and discussion on common issues will also be covered.

This class is for dogs 6 months and older. Dogs with reactivity issues and other severe behaviour issues are not appropriate for this class.

The Beyond the Basics class is for dogs that have completed a puppy or beginner obedience program and are ready for greater challenges. This class will work on increasing challenges by adding distractions, duration and distance for the skills taught in the puppy/beginner classes. These skills include sit for greeting and grooming, heeling past another dog handler team, out of sight stays, calming down after play, position changes (sit, down, stand with distance), more advanced "leave its", recalls and loose leash walking around distractions and much more.

Teach your dog to come when called the first time you call! Your dog will learn to love recalls and to race back to you past distractions, with speed and enthusiasm every time you call. This course will also teach you how to train your dog to lay down from a distance for those instances when it isn't safe to call your dog (ie. past a bike path with cyclists).
Basic obedience skills are required to attend this class.

Are you thinking about taking the CKC's Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) test? This class will help you prepare for the test! Skills covered will include: Accepting a friendly stranger, politely accepts petting, and grooming, Loose leash walking through a crowd and past distractors, Sit/Down /Stay, come when called, calming down after praise and exciting interactions with the handler, calmly heeling past another dog, calm behaviour when left with another individual during supervised isolation, calmly walking through a door/gate .
Basic obedience skills are required to attend this class.

*Week 1 is for humans only. Many skills and techniques need to be taught to the handler before we introduce dogs into the picture on week 2*
Does your dog bark, lung, or growl at other dogs or moving objects like bicycles and cars when on a leash? We can help you with your dog's on leash reactivity!
This 7 week program will teach you techniques to help calm and focus your dog when exposed to triggers that would typically cause a reactive response. Some of the topics covered include: reading and responding to body cues, teaching the dogs how to engage and disengage, appropriate alternative behaviours, emergency handling and pattern games, how to introduce your dog to potentially scary things, decompression and relaxation techniques and so much more!
**This class is NOT appropriate for dogs with Human aggression/reactivity. This class is for dogs that have fearful, reactive, or over arousal issues with other dogs or moving objects**

This class is for graduates of our Fired Up Fido program. Continue to work the skills taught in the level 1 class with added distractions and challenges.

It's time to test your obedience skills in a real world setting! This outdoor class will take the skills you learnt in your puppy kindergarten or beginner obedience class and work them in real life scenarios. You and your dog will also work on increasing distance and duration to your common obedience commands and work many of the skills needed to pass the Canine Good Neighbour test.
Locations will be emailed out to students closer to the start of the class. Locations will include sites such as North Glenmore Park, Fish Creek Park Hulls Wood, Fish Creek Park Mallord Point, Old Refinery Park and similar locations.
Pre-requisite: completed a minimum of a puppy or a beginner obedience class.
Please note: We highly recommend a front clip harness for participation in this class.
Payment is due at the time of registration via paypal, e transfer or payment in person with debit or credit. Registrations will not be accepted if payment is not received within 24 hours of enrolment in a course. All classes are six weeks long unless otherwise stated in the description. Each class runs for approximately an hour each week
Classes are fully refundable up to 5 days before the first class begins. After the 5 day prior class starting window has passed and once classes are in progress the classes are non refundable, non transferable, and there are no make up classes. Our refund policy also includes those that have to miss class due to COVID, injuries, health reasons, change in work schedule, etc.
Group classes are not appropriate for dogs with reactivity/aggression issues or other severe behaviour problems. If you have concerns regarding your dog's behaviour please contact us before registering for a class. Classes are non refundable and non transferable up to five days before your class starts and once it is in session.
You are encouraged to come out and watch a class before registering in a program.
